Dylan likes food.
We started rice cereal today, just a day shy of his six-month birthday, so that Daddy could be here to see his first meal. Of course, he loved it. He has been reaching for our food for a while now, and he loves gnawing on little spoons while I am cooking dinner. I can't say that rice cereal would be my first choice for a snack, but it's all he knows for now, and he is pumped about it.
He was a little cautious at first; by dinner, however, he was pounding on his high chair for more whenever I would take a break from spooning it into his eager mouth. Picture our little guy pounding on his high chair for food, Abbey whining/(fake) crying in the background that she wants to do the feeding. I don't think she could have kept up! Thankfully, we distracted her, and dinner went smoothly after that. Ok, well, as smoothly as possible with a toddler who switches chairs half-way through a meal that she hardly touches and pulls out the vacuum cleaner before Ryan and I are finished. The vacuum was her distraction by the way; we're not running a child-labor house over here.
Avocado is next on our list, since it's easy to smash up and has tons of great nutrients. I'm thinking Wednesday or Thursday. He's such a champ!
the goods (the coffee is mine, haha)
mixed & ready to go
waiting patiently
not bad
not bad at all
"I'll do it myself!"
(I think he learned that one from his big sister.)
four spoons later, we finished his first bowl
yum! dinner can't come soon enough
Abbey was such a good helper, it's no wonder that she wanted to help again at dinner. We had to remind her at snack time that he is not ready for goldfish yet!
