Six Months (and one day)

Dear Dylan,

I have to keep checking the calendar, because it doesn't seem possible that six months have flown by already.  Warp speed has arrived on Main Street, and you are growing up so quickly.  I do mean growing, by the way - 20 pounds and 29 inches is so big.  Mommy needs to do some shopping, because we need a new car seat and some new diapers for you, my future football star.

Just kidding about the football star quip, although if that is the direction you choose, I hope you follow your heart with all of the happiness and excitement that you show us each day.  At six months, you are just the happiest little man.  It's almost too easy to make you smile and laugh, and I am so glad.  Those chuckles and grins make all of the late nights and crazy moments fade into the background of pure joy you have brought into our lives.  There's nothing that makes me love being a mommy more than seeing you and Abbey cracking each other up - even when it's supposed to be dinner time, and she's out of her chair for the hundredth time.

Six months passed in the blink of an eye, my Dylan.  I know there were moments where things got a little nuts around here, but I can't imagine my life without you in it.  Years from now, I know I won't recall the minute details of how we made it to six months, but I hope I never, ever forget the way you curl into my neck at night, gripping my finger, smelling of lavendar baby lotion or the way you long to be part of the action, watching Daddy and Abbey playing after dinner.  (Ok, and I promise not to slather you in lavendar baby lotion for too much longer.)

Love you always baby boy,
Mommy
xoxo
