The Beach Trees - Summer Reading

On a lazy summer afternoon, there's nothing like settling in with a refreshing drink and a perfect summer read.  The Beach Trees, by Karen White, is exactly the type of book I'd want to read with my toes buried in the sand, sunglasses slipping down my nose, humidity dampening the pages of the story just slightly.

It has mystery, love, loss, and hope, all mingled with the sensual settings of New Orleans and Biloxi.  See what I thought about The Beach Trees over at the BlogHer Book Club.

Oh, and I recommend bringing a cool glass of southern sweet tea!

  1. I'm a sucker for a Southern set book in the summer.

  2. I think I would like this book! I'm terrible at reading and then stopping. I need to be better. Maybe I'll check this one out. Great review over at BlogHer - I always have a heck of a time commenting there.

  5. If you're not too scared of me knowing where you live, if you e-mail me your address, I'll send it over when my mom is done reading it!

I'm a little convinced I should live in the south.  But, alas, I don't.

  6. Thanks Elena!  If KLZ doesn't want the book, you can borrow (or we could start a little book field trip, and it could just travel around.)  I LOVED it.

  7. Let's just send the book around!  It is soooo good.  A little mystery, a little romance, a little history.

  8. I think so!  I will read almost anything and can usually find something positive to say about most books, but The Beach Trees I would 100% recommend.  My mom is actually reading it right now.  I am find with sending it over to anyone that wants to read it.

  9. I'm from New Orleans, so I'm really biased towards books with that back drop :)  Thanks for sharing.  I'll have to check it out!

  10. I've only been once, but we loved it there.  After a few days in New Orleans itself, wee spent a day/evening at Nottoway Plantation and got engaged there, so it will always have a special place in my heart.
