Flashback

When Donnie and I were younger, my Aunt Carolyn lived with us for a little while.  She took some classes and watched us while my mom was working.  I was pretty young, so my memories of those days aren't the most vivid, but I do remember her wonderful laugh, lots of diet pepsi (for her, not us), and enjoying her company a lot.  There's also a picture of her holding my hands while I am wearing a nightgown and those old-school roller skates that attached to your shoes.  I don't remember that, but I look like I really rocked those skates!

Abbey and Dylan recently had the pleasure of Aunt Carolyn's company for a (much too short) visit.  Nan and Carolyn came to visit, and Nan is staying for a little while, but Aunt Carolyn needed to get back to her real life.  The kids are going to miss her terribly.  She played and snuggled and laughed and loved on them the whole time she was here, and they are both fans for life.

Who can blame them?
some serious coloring took place
both Carolyn and Nan are much better artists than Abbey is used to seeing!
Carolyn is always up for a walk, and so is Dylan
this blanket has seen so much - my mom has kept it in her car for as long as I can remember
something about Nan, nursery rhymes, and my mom's recliner...
these are the things he gets away with when there are lots of hands around to catch him

  2. We have some family close and some not-so-close. My kids are lucky to have so much love around them, but I do sometimes wish that everyone was closer!

  3. One of the things I enjoyed most about this post was how you fondly remembered wonderful bits and pieces of having your Aunt Carolyn around when you were younger. Now that you're older, it's great to have your children create their own memories with her.
Second, I too have a little dare devil, similar to your guy. That photo of Dylan on the table is adorable.
