An Ode to a Pedicure

My feet cry out for comfort as we play in the park

These wedges better suited for a stroll after dark

Sometimes I wear flip flops, to give my tootsies a break

But there’s one fashion concession that I just can’t make

Crocs are for doctors and kids and gardeners

Though they're catching on, thanks to great marketers

I hear they make cute ones that don’t look like clogs

And they’d probably feel great on these barking dogs

I claimed that this summer I’d at least buy some flats

To chase Dylan around, going this way and that

I’ve seen some cute sandals, even some I adore

Though I still like my heels just a little bit more

I vowed to buy flats, and soon I'll be ready

But until then I'll wear wedges and wish for a pedi

Abbey loves hers
as she should
it took about thirty minutes to choose them
Dylan loving his Crocs
Abbey, Dylan, and Brendan rocking their Crocs
(Colleen not in Crocs)

  3. You are *too* funny!
    Katie adores her Crocs too.
I love them because they can go right through the laundry or be put in the dishwasher. Score.

But for me? Not so much.

Go get that pedicure and enjoy every minute of it! :)

  4. I cannot do the Croc thing either, even though I have seen some that I actually like.  Now it is just the principal of  the thing.

    Here from Mama Kat's.

  5. I agree with you completely! While I have a pair and find them to be super comfortable, they do not step anywhere beyond the boundaries of our yard. That would be wrong.

That was so cute! I loved the poem. And I totally agree about crocs. Not for us adults. Ever. I love Toms. Those are my go-to shoes almost always. And they cover up my gnarly feet.

  7. I agree with you...no Crocs EVER outside of gardening.  And I agree with Hillary, Toms are comfortable and fashionable.  Fashion counts!

  8. Awe, I wish my former boss would read this post and not wear Crocs with a blazer when it's time for special briefings at work.

  12. Love your ode!

Crocs only look good on very small people with cute feet. Not us, not us *shudders*

  14. I'll give them to doctors, especially doctors in emergency rooms and other places they have to work in the middle of the night :)

  15. We're going to the beach this weekend, and between sandals and running shoes, my feet are a wreck!  Sorry beachgoers.

  16. I just can't do it.  I can't.

But seriously, on little kids, they're cute!

  17. Is it wrong that I kind of wish you had a picture of that?

  20. What happens in the yard stays in the yard :)

  21. Ha ha!  I agree on the principle.  They could be cute now, and I can't wear them.  It's mental.

  22. Any kids' shoes that can go in the dishwasher are worth their weight in gold.  Although crocs aren't that heavy, so that's not too much :)  But you get my point!

I need a pedi, but I'm afraid it won't happen for a little while.

  24. Thank you!  I wish I could say "see you this weekend!" but maybe next time!

  25. Oh Liz, you don't even know.  We thought we loved Tinkerbell, then at home we figured out that her wings GLOW IN THE DARK.  Abbey can't do cartwheels, but if she could, that would have been the perfect opportunity :)

Christmas ones would make me smile all year long :)
