Whitecaps?

Labor Day in Michigan is truly the symbolic end of summer.  This weekend the weather decided the end of summer would be more than symbolic - it was cold by the water, and the wind was insane.  Those of us that live in Michigan know that the weather is anything but predictable so we took it with a grain of salt and made the most of our vacation time anyway.  This was one weekend where my overpacking paid off; we needed all the extra clothes I piled into the suitcase.

It might not have been the weather that the bride and groom imagined (the ceremony had to be moved indoors), but there's something to be said for all that wind.  There were actual whitecaps on the lake, and it was gorgeous in a frosty, melancholy fashion.

In true Michigan fashion, Sunday ended up being sunny and calm.  C'est la vie, right?

we didn't brave the pier
I didn't want to jump in the water after Abbey if she would've blown off!
I don't live on the lake, but I am pretty sure these waves aren't the norm
