Sweet Summer Stuff

I shouldn't have posted about great days, because of course the pendulum had to swing at some point.  We've had a couple of rough days; Dylan's teething again (I think), and there's a possibility the rice cereal is hurting his stomach a little.  Basically, both kids are bobbing back and forth between content and crabby with frightening speed and unpredictability.  At times like this, I think it's important to remember that they're just babies, and I need to be calm for all of us.

So, instead of focusing on the craziness, I'm going to think about the moments that made me smile this weekend.  You can wash the stickiness of watermelon from your hands and still taste the sweetness on your tongue.  That's the beauty of summer, of kids, of life.

sticky & messy watermelon sweetened by the sun
baby sleeping in the shade
who needs a crib?
a friend's (delish) wedding cake
gorgeous wedding with meticulous attention in every detail
even sweeter than the cake? wonderful people starting a new life together
sibling hugs

And because too much sweetness causes cavities & tummy aches...
yep, he's a grabber, hair is one of his favorite targets
