True Zoo

We go to the zoo frequently, which isn't news to anyone who has looked at this blog more than once or twice. We made plans to go on Good Friday this year, although we knew it could be a little busy with all of the school kids off on Easter Break. Well, combine Easter Break with near record-breaking (warm!) temperatures, and you get a crazy amount of people at the zoo in one day. Honestly, I can't remember ever seeing the zoo like that. If we hadn't been meeting other people, I might have skipped the visit.

We (Abbey, Dylan, my mom, and Nan) met Colleen, Brendan, and her one-year old nephew, Kellen for a day of crowd dodging and toddler wrangling. We wanted to meet up with Stacy, Connor, and Madison, but we were never able to coordinate our wanderings around the zoo, so we'll have to return soon! Thankfully, Colleen and I both have memberships and didn't feel the need to cram everything into one visit. We spent a lot of time at lunch and playing around the fountain. Staying away from some of the busier exhibits saved (some of) our sanity and made for a pretty enjoyable day.

We hung out at the amphibian house before meeting Colleen and the boys, since we arrived a little before she did. Abbey enjoyed playing on the frog fountains and only protested slightly when I had to ask her to give another little kid a turn.

"Hey Abbey, I think we can definitely make a break for it today. There's four kids and four adults, but they've got to lug around the stroller and wagon, so we have the advantage."

One of our seating arrangements involved Dylan and Abbey in our stroller and Brendan and Kellen in Colleen's wagon. That didn't work out so well, because Brendan wanted to walk.

Another attempted arrangement was Dylan and Kellen in the stroller with Brendan and Abbey in the wagon. That didn't work so well, either, since both B & A are able to climb out of the wagon.

Note to all of the people giving me dirty looks while we walked around...we asked Nan several times if she wanted someone else to push the stroller! We're not evil slave drivers!
